"During my yearly AC system tune up they found that a valve was not functioning properly and needed to be replaced. Because Starr registered the units when they were installed, the warranty was still applicable for the part, which saved me a couple hundred dollars. The HVAV guy said most builders don’t bother to register the units, so I appreciate that Starr had such attention to detail. I was not surprised."

The Starr Team is the best builder in town. Gerry Starr and his home design expertise made our forever home the very best. Bob Osterlund was very helpful in every way to make sure the Home building experience was very enjoyable. Ryan our project manager has been so easy to work with the entire time. Nothing we have asked for has been turned down. There is always an option to take care of what we want the home to be. I wanted to add a towel warmer in the master bath and he made it happen. No big deal. From the start Starr was doing it right. Building with 21st century technology. Floor trusses, roof trusses, wall panels. This is the only way to build. Starr Homes, along with a few other builders, was recommended to us by a leading Kansas City area realtor as a builder who consistently delivers houses of the highest quality. In investigating which builder to hire, we looked at many new homes during the Parade of Homes and also had sit-down interviews with a number of top echelon builders. The striking difference between Starr and the others was that Starr encouraged us to tour their homes as well as the homes of all the other builders we were considering. Unlike the others, Starr never had a negative thing to say about the competition. They are confident in how their work stands up against the others in a head-to-head comparison. This was the third and the largest home we have built. I'm not sure I could have imagined a better custom building experience. Bob is very responsive and willing to help with any part of the process. Gerry was a pleasure to work with, no matter how many changes we made to the original design. The supervisor we had oversaw that process with as much care as if it were his own home. And, amazingly, Starr will return to complete the punch list, and anything else that comes up as they want to ensure everyone is satisfied with their work. Our home turned out to be more beautiful than we had even imagined. If we ever build again, there is no doubt we will work with Starr Homes.

It's easy to see that Starr builds a quality, beautiful home. But what is not as evident is the value Starr Homes delivers beyond the construction itself. Starr Homes is currently building our custom home. We became aware of Starr Homes by their excellent reputation as a custom home builder and because of friends experience with Starr Homes for their custom home build. We chose them because of our excellent initial experiences with Gerry Starr, Bob Osterlund and the entire staff. We presented them with a challenging wooded lot, and home design and budgeting goals. Gerry's engineering prowess became evident during the planning for this front sloping wooded lot. They provided close personal attention for lot development and design planning. Bob and our project manager, David Stearns, respond quickly to emails and any issues are addressed in a very timely fashion. The personal attention that is given throughout the design, design choices and construction is impressive. We have recently broken ground and the build is progressing as anticipated with the winter conditions (Feb '18). We had no idea how complex it is to build a custom home on a custom lot. Thankfully, we found the best.

Starr Homes has always been very professional and attentive. My husband and I completely switched the layout of our house after the drawings had already been drafted. They not once complained or seemed irritated at us for starting over. They were actually very excited about our new ideas and floor plans. Gerry Starr does a great job designing! Out of all of the houses I go into for inspections Starr Homes has the only houses that I would not change anything in.

We hired Starr homes to build our family dream home and they were excellent. Although we had a few bumps along the way which we expected, they handled everything professionally and went above and beyond to make sure their clients were happy. They have an amazing team and we highly recommend them.

My wife and I spent three years looking at new homes throughout Johnson County, and though both of us believe we are pretty flexible, we never found a new home that we both liked. Then we walked through the Starr Homes entry into the Boulevard of Dreams tour in 2011 and fell in love. We both love the flowing livability of the architecture. It is well thought out for the daily lives of the homeowners. The symmetrical esthetic that carries from room to room is very easy on the eyes, and the rich, durable materials bring a cozy, warm environment. Kit and Gerry Starr both met with us to highlight the green construction methodologies. We happened to be in the model during a blustery day. It was so quiet that after an hour or so, we all commented on how the wind must have died down. Then we looked out the window and saw the neighbors lawn furniture blowing across the lawn. We loved the model, but wanted to make some notable changes to better fit us. We knew that we had found our builder, and they could make our dream home. From that point on, Starr Homes helped us pick out the perfect lot, design, redesign and redesign again our home. Thanks again to Kit, Gerry and Bob Osterlund. They gave us outstanding advice and insight, which really opened up our minds while having a good idea of the budget impact of those changes. Some of our favorite improvements include the stage in our daughters room, an additional garage bay, the large gardening room, the lady cave complete with barn door, and the subterranean home theater. Now that we have been in our dream home for a year, our whole family loves it. The daily livability is even better than we expected. The building experience was outstanding. We had an outstanding project leader in Tracy Hall who kept us and the crews on track and made the entire experience enjoyable. If you have ever built a new home before, you know how hard that can be. And as an added benefit, that leading, green energy building methodology has given us our lowest energy bills.
