Starr Homes is about to break ground on our new model in The Village of Loch Lloyd. The reverse 1.5 story model, named The Sanibel, will be 4,085 square feet and boast a modern coastal design. Everyone is familiar with the traditional coastal, beachy style. But what is modern coastal design? It is creating a space that feels calming, uncluttered and casual. Imagine walking down the beach. Grains of sand in your toes. Waves crashing on the shore. Boardwalks stretching over the water. Modern coastal design is creating the same feeling with the use of color, texture and space. A minimalist approach and clean lines are key to conveying a soothing, yet modern and sleek, design. Sandy tans, blue hues, off-whites and grays will be used to create an informal and inviting space. From 3-D cabinets, ship lap ceilings to grooved walls, the home will be filled with different textures to build interest in every room.

We invite you to join us throughout the design process for this model! We will be following Starr Homes' Interior Designer Angela Arnone-Orel along on all the design meetings to get the scoop, and more importantly your input, on the overall design and selections for the model. Here are the selections so far.

Windows & Doors

The first meeting Angela always schedules is with Kansas City Building Supply to discuss windows and doors. All windows in The Sanibel model will be Style Line windows from Milgard. The Style Line series provides quality vinyl windows paired with durability and affordability. The contemporary style features a slimmer frame to allow for more natural light. Interior doors will be 2-panel flat, solid core 8’ doors. The sliding French doors from the dining room to the lanai and lower level media room to walkout will be Marvin Integrity.

Cabinets

Angela worked with KC Custom Cabinet Inc. to create these beautiful, square pyramid-shaped raised panel doors. These panel doors will be painted white and used in the kitchen and lower level bar.

Trim

Exceptional trim will be used to create different textures throughout the home. Painted ship lap will be used in the dining room and master bedroom ceilings to form linear patterns. The open floor plan will allow for a grey stained, ridge beam to stretch across the hearth room and kitchen. The master bathroom will feature a slatted wall panels with plenty of room for open shelves and floating cabinets.

Appliances & Plumbing

The kitchen appliances, selected at Ferguson, are the Café Series from GE. Although the series offered a Matte Collection in matte white or matte black, Angela selected the stainless-steel option to achieve a more modern and sleek look. The refrigerator and freezer in the kitchen will be Frigidaire. By popular vote on our Instagram, the home will feature the Mirabelle Hibiscus Collection, freestanding rectangular tub in the master bath. Many of the plumbing accessories (faucets, valves, shower heads) will be polished chrome.

From counter tops to tile, there are still many more selections to be made. So make sure to follow Starr Homes on Instagram and Facebook to join the design conversation and give us your valued input!
